Biography

Vanessa Anne Hudgens was born on December 14, 1988 in Salinas, California. She lived all over the West Coast with her parents Gina who has worked in a succession of office jobs and her father Gregory Hudgens a firefighter and her younger sister, Stella Hudgens who is also an actress.

Vanessa has a mixed cultural background, as her father is of Irish and Native American descent and her mother, a native of Manila, is of Chinese-Filipino-Spanish descent. Both sets of Vanessa's grandparents were musicians.

Her first big screen role was in 'Thirteen'. Thirteen was nominated for an Oscar in 2003. The following year she starred in another big screen film 'Thunderbirds'.

Vanessa then starred in guest roles of TV shows, These included: Quintuplets, Still Standing, The Brothers García, Drake & Josh and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Her carrier didn't really take of until the Disney Channel orignal Movie 'High School Musical

Vanessa Hudgens starred as Gabriella Montez. Gabriella Montez is a shy school girl who falls in love with heart-throb Troy Bolton (played by Zac Efron.)

Vanessa received a recording contract with Hollywood Records. On September 2006, the release of her debut album entitled V, charted on the Billboard 200 at number twenty-four on the chart and was certified Gold on February 27, 2007. Her first single, "Come Back to Me" became her highest-charting single and her second single was "Say OK". Billboard readers chose "V" as the seventh best album of the year.Vanessa was named Female Breakout Singer of the year at the 2007 Teen Choice Awards.

Vanessa continued her fame after starring in the sequal to High School Musical (High School Musical 2). This was about the same time she admitted to dating CoStar Zac Efron (Celebraty Couple Name Zanessa).

Her sophomore album, Identified, which received generally favorable reviews, was released on July 1, 2008, debuting at #23 on the Billboard 200. The album's lead single was "Sneakernight". Hudgens's Identified Summer Tour began on August 1, 2008 and ended in early September 9 of the same year.

High School Musical 3 was reliced in 2008, unlike the previous films it was reliced on the big screen. It was a great way to end the trilogy.

After the sucsess of the High School Musical movies, Vanessa continued on with her carrer. Vanessa moved outside disney to star in the movie 'Bandslam'. She starred with Aly Michalka.

Vanessa is currently ctarring in other movies. She just finished filming a film called 'Beastly' which is a modern day Beauty and the Beast for the teen crowd. She also is starring in a film called 'Sucker Punch' with Zac Snyder the director of 'Watchmen'.
